***EDIT*** We have to come clean, this is an April fools day joke! Whilst Bretts buggy is scheduled for debut later this year, it is not scheduled to be running in WA. Thanks everyone for having a laugh and good luck Southern Cross when the new vehicle is ready ***EDIT***
In exciting news for the 2017 CAMS Carnarvon Motel WAORC, 2 time and reigning WAORC outright champion Brett Smith is set to return to WA to race the Horizon Power Gascoyne Dash. Behind the scenes, Smith and the whole Southern Cross Race Team have been hard at work on the brand new Next Gen Southern Cross Prolite. Gun navigator Corey Smith has headed to Adelaide this weekend to pick up the new beast which will be headed back to WA just in time for Round 2 of the series.
The news of Smiths return is sure to strike fear into many of the WAORC outright contenders after his ominous record over the past 2 years. Smith is excited at returning to Carnarvon where he narrowly missed out on taking the win last year after Brad Cooper won the event by just 7 seconds. “Brad stole that one from me last year, but this new Southern Cross is a born and bred Pro Buggy Killer!” The new buggy is still yet to break cover, but there is a lot of excitement around about the latest installment in a line of Southern Cross Buggies which come from strong racing pedigree
Smith also had plenty to say about the quality of racing in WA. “Its just great to be heading back to the best 6 round series in Australia”. With the field of competitors looking to crack 30, this years Gascoyne Dash is set to be one that you won’t want to miss!
