Extreme 2wd Preview – Three Springs 360

Posted on Updated on

The Extreme 2wd field are ready to turn it on at the 2017 Carnarvon Motel Three Springs 360. 1 mental VW Beetle and 5 fire breathing trophy trucks are lined up ready to stomp on the loud pedal and put on a show!

406 – The Doney’s will be out to make amends for a small error at the Mid West Challenge which saw them hit a tree and drop out of the race. The twin turbo v6 powered beetle has an abundance of horsepower and driver Colin will be looking forward to stretching its legs down the fast Yarra lakes run

413 – Beau Robinson is a former winner of this event and comes into Three Springs in strong form after running at the pointy end of the AORC fields at Finke and rainbow. This excitement machine will be one to keep an eye over the weekend

425 – Greg Pickersgill has a love hate relationship with Three Springs. 2015 and 2016 both saw him collect enough points at the final round to take out the class championship. The hate relationship part would have been seeing his regular navigator Greg Finlay roll the 425 machine during the 2014 event (possibly the last time Pickers lets Greg have the wheel) With the championship on the line, expect Pickers to bring his A game in a bid to close the gap on Colin Doney who leads the class championship

444 – Chris Giles and Alex Cowan are ready to tackle the Three Springs 360, a year after making their WAORC debut at this event. With this being the first track that Chris will have run twice, there will be some knowledge of what to expect and the 444 machine should be setup to handle everything the track can throw at it

455 – Luke Worthington will be out to make amends for the mechanical issues which stopped him at the Mid West Challenge. If the #455 is on song he will be holding wide open at every chance he gets. The big Three Springs track features several spectacular jumps and there is nothing Wortho loves more than sending it!

469 – Karl Richardson makes his Three Springs debut in the yellow RB26 powered Navara. With the ongoing development of the vehicle continuing, Richardson has been impressive and looks to be building towards a strong result. If the Bul Racing team can keep it all together, they may just trouble some of the more seasoned competitors
