Trewhella triumphs at Round 1
In what can only be described as a domination of the field, Adam Trewhella has capped off an emotional weekend with 1st outright at Round 1 of the 2025 WAORC. 12 months after the tragic passing of Craig Trewhella at the 2024 running of the event, Adam claimed a huge win, taking out the prologue and every section of the race

In what can only be described as stiflingly hot conditions, Trewhella struck the first blow by going quickest in the LA Car Carriers prologue to take out the inaugural Craig Trewhella Prologue Award. Brad Krepp was 2nd fastest whilst the man tipped to be his closest rival, Harleigh Uren was a DNF with a failure in the front end of his One Speed Racing Truck. Young gun Logan Gill continued to show everyone that he is a star of the future with 3rd outright, just ahead of Chris Unstead and Logans father Royce Gill

The Mandurah Jetskis Section 1 on Saturday afternoon would see lots of movers and shakers as 2nd to 5th would be split by just 25 seconds after just under 80kms of racing. In 5th, Jordan Bull was putting on a show in just his second drive of the ex Buddy Crowe Jimco. Ahead of him, Kristan Pinner, Jared Brindal and Chris Unstead were having an epic battle for SXS supremacy. Logan Gill suffered a belt failure which slowed his run, whilst just 50m from the finish line Royce Gill would crash out of what was looking like a very promising run towards the podium

Sunday morning would have the coolest temperatures of the weekend, but on track, the action was still red hot. Adam Trewhella blitzing the timesheets to extend his lead whilst behind him there was carnage. Chris Unstead rolled out of contention in his beatifully presented bumblebee Maverick R whilst Terrence Flynn Dowell put in a flyer to clock a top 5 time. Logan Gill locked into 4th outright with only Pinner, Bull and Trewhella ahead of him. The Off Road Rush WA Section 2 would see several cars failing to finish including the Extreme 2wd’s of Harleigh Uren and Mike Green. The popular Kingswood of the Junior Development program piloted by Lindon House and Matt Beck also another to succumb during the 2 lap section

The final section proudly sponsored by Superior Customs showed that there were a few twists in the tale of the McPhee Freight & Gturbo Perenjori Classic. Jordan Bull suffering a flat tyre and jammed throttle dropping him off a maiden WAORC podium. Mark Cramer continued his charge to get the 932 machine into the top 5 outright, but he couldn’t quite catch Terrence Flynn Dowell who was 4th outright and 3rd in SXS Pro. 3rd outright and 2nd in class was Jarrad Brindal, with the father son duo of Kristan and Sebastian Pinner claiming 2nd outright, 1st in SXS Pro and bragging rights for Polaris in the Polaris vs CanAm rivalry. Out in front, nobody could catch Adam Trewhella, a worthy winner of the event and taking home the Rod Hatter Memorial Trophy.

Throughout the rest of the classes, Graeme Bentink took the Prolite class win on his debut drive in a buggy. Lee Marsh brought his single seat Prolite home first in class and 13th outright. Just behind in 14th outright was Corne De Wit and Pieter De Wit, with Corne winning the Super 1650 class on his driving debut. Warren Classen was another first time class winner in Extreme 4wd, whilst the Jones Bros racing entry of Simon Jones won Production 4wd. Late electrical dramas couldn’t dampen Steven Scotts weekend, another first time class winner in his Performance 2wd Hilux. Paul Boscott won the Extreme 2wd class in his bug, whilst Jason Stone proved strongest in SXS Sport in his Yamaha YXZ
