Stacked field of Prolites for ‘Benny’

Posted on Updated on

The Prolite fields in WA are going from strength to strength in 2017 and easily being the most biggest field for the Marsue Transport Bencubbin 400. Heading into Round 3 of the 2017 CAMS Carnarvon Motel WAORC its also 2 Prolite competitors battling it out for the outright points race, so there is extra pressure coming from this firebreathing pack of naturally aspirated rockets!

#107 – Kevin Holt in his Goose Racing ZX14 powered buggy will be looking for a strong run at Bencubbin. Holt has previously run comfortable in the top 10 outright at this event and will be looking to repeat this form again in 2017

#109 – Paul Tognela has been growing in confidence throughout the 2017 season and will be hoping for a strong run this weekend. The Prime Earthmoving sponsored buggy has all the right gear and Tognela is starting to push some of the more seasoned veterans of this class

#110 – Jake Clucas is one rookie who if nothing else, loves to put on a show! His Toyota powered Chenowth Millenium presents beautifully and goes hard. All eyes will be on Clucas to see just how far through the field he can push his way in just his 2nd race

#112 – Peter Lindebooms Raptor Prolite is a dark horse amongst this field. Whilst Lindeboom is not a regular competitor, he is one of the quickest. If everything goes his way Lindeboom will be pushing for a class win

#119 – Jared Percival comes into the Bencubbin 400 with a lot of pressure. Currently locked in a tight WAORC outright points tussle with Mal Yeardley, Percival will be looking to keep his head and put in another strong performance

#123 – Chris Thomas will be returning to competition after a lenghty layoff. The Suzuki powered Katana buggy which was handbuilt by Chris was extremely quick last time it hit the track and we are tipping that nothing will have changed when it returns

#161 – Nathaniel Edwards and Luke Mclean will be looking for a faultless run at Bencubbin after a promising start to the season. We expect Edwards to be one of the front runners at Bencubbin after a strong showing at the Narrogin

#168 – Epic Racings Mark Jarret has been gaining pace and confidence throughout this season and is not too far away from latching onto the back of the Percival/Yeardley battle. If everything goes Jarrets way who knows where the #168 machine will end up!

#171 – As with Percival, the pressure of being in a tight tussle for the WAORC outright has to be getting to Mal Yeardley. After just 2 rounds, the pair have been almost inseperable and it most certainly will be game on again at Bencubbin!

#181 – Stephen Hall surprised everyone at Round 1 at Perenjori with a blistering prologue run. Whilst the event was shortlived, young gun Stephen showed that he has the pace to run with the big boys! Slowlite may be the team name, but its certainly not indicative of what the #181 is capable of

#195 – George Metaxas in his SS Racetech Prolite buggy will be hoping he can sneak up on the field in his buggy which features ‘camo’ war paint! Metaxas has shown through the first 2 rounds that as the event wears on, the stronger he gets. Expect Metaxas to be there when it counts in the enduro section of the event

#198 – Craig Wells in the second Wells Racing entry has entered the multi club section of this event. Wells has pedigree in the Prolite class and is a veteran of the sport. Watch out for Craig to spring a few surprises over the course of the weekend

#1163 – Wayne Holts Goose Racing ‘Sollittco’ buggy has been one of the quiet achievers ever since it landed in WA. Wayne Holt will be hoping to get one up on Kevin Holt in the other Goose Racing entry, but will also be looking for a consistent run throughout the weekend

Super 1650s ready to push the limits

Posted on Updated on

The Super 1650 field of 3 competitors is ready to push the limits at the upcoming Marsue Transport, Bencubbin 400. With an evenly matched field and a returning class champion, this will be a close battle

#229 – Bandit Off Road Racing’s Dan Hawkins will be looking to put a run of DNF’s to an end at Bencubbin. With mechanical issues preventing the crew from reaching the checkered flag at both Perenjori and Narrogin events, Hawkins will be out to make amends

#232 – Peter Mellington the former Super 1650 class champion will be looking to rekindle the form which took him to his maiden Super 1650 WAORC title in 2015. The PKR Racing team have been hard at work on their Tiger buggy and will be one of the favorites in this class

#253 – John Flynn and Gary Howe are back again in the Dirty Girl Racing Red Rocket. The Bullet Toyota powered buggy has been quick all year and will be hoping to capitalize on the pace and form shown so far. “Flynny” will be leaving it all out on the track as the racing action heats up!

Superlite field ready to rumble

Posted on Updated on

With the strongest Superlite field that we have seen in years, Round 3 of the 2017 CAMS Carnarvon Motel WAORC should be in intriguing one. The most interesting point about this field is that the 3 different vehicles are all from different manufacturers. Can Am, Polaris and Yamaha each represented at the upcoming event

#654 – Rob Clarke will be having his debut run in his XRacing Yamaha YZX Side by Side. Whilst Clarke has not raced in the WAORC previously, he has had plenty of experience in his Yamaha  most recently competing in a gravel rally sprint competition

#674 – Chris Unstead in his Can Am X3 will be hoping that his strong form at the Narrogin Chase will continue at the Marsue Transport Bencubbin 400. Unstead surprised a lot of people with a fast and reliable run at Narrogin and if he can transfer that form over to the long course format he will be in with a big shot at taking out Superlite B

#699 – Ashley Sudholz has entered his Polaris RZR 1000 turbo and will be hoping for a strong result. Sudholz has previous off road racing experience in a short wheel base Nissan Patrol, but the Superlite is an entirely different proposition. Watch out for the #699 machine to put on a show

Pro Buggy will be a battle of the big guns!

Posted on Updated on

The Pro Buggy field that has entered the upcoming Marsue Transport, Bencubbin 400 looks angry and ready for an intense battle!

#21 – Danielle Joyce has entered the multi club segment of the Bencubbin 400 and will be hoping for a strong finish in the #21 machine. All eyes will be on Danni as she flies the flag for all the women out on track!

#42 – Peter Barrett from Carnarvon Motel Racing will be hoping that the bad luck which plagued him at his home town race wont follow him out to Bencubbin. The series naming rights sponsor, Barrett has shown that the buggy is quick. He just needs a little bit of luck to go his way in getting it to the finish line

#77 – Harleigh Uren will be absolutely brimming with confidence after a strong 1st outright at the Narrogin Chase. If Uren can translate his raw pace into this long course race he will be a massive threat for the outright positions. Watch this space!

#98 – Marcus Wells has shown this year that the has the consistency and the pace to put the pressure on when it counts. If Wells can massage his LS2 powered Razorback around the course he will be a strong contender when the checkered flag flies on Sunday afternoon

#932 – Event Sponsor Mark Cramer from Marsue Transport has had an interesting start to the year. A disappointing race at Perenjori, a massive roll over at the Gas Dash and a promising finish at the Narrogin Chase makes up his mixed bag of a start to the year. The one thing that is undeniable is that this team is quick and they wont give up! The Fuelburna Racing team will be on the charge

#971 – Last years event winner Scott Schiller is back for another crack in his SS Racetech Hustler Pro Buggy. All signs point to Schiller being one of the favorites for this race and it would take a brave man to bet against Schiller being at the pointy end all weekend

4wd classes up for the fight!

Posted on Updated on

The Extreme 4wd and Production 4wd classes are ready for a big battle at the upcoming Marsue Transport, Bencubbin 400. With a field of 8 extreme 4wds and 1 Production 4wd, the tin tops will be out in force heading into Round 3 of the 2017 CAMS, Carnarvon Motel WAORC

#727 – Steven Baxter from the Baxter Racing team are the only Production 4wds in the field. They will be out to secure some points for heading into the second half of the 2017 CAMS, Carnarvon Motel WAORC, but will also be trying to spoil some of their more modified Extreme 4wd rivals

#807 – John Pursehouse has brought his Ford Ranger back to Australia after some international competition. The Ranger is blisteringly quick and sounds absolutely mental. Keep an eye on Pursehouse as he looks to charge to the front of the field

#814 – Leigh Cooper has entered his Mitsubishi Pajero in the Marsue Transport Bencubbin 400. With the potential shown at the recent Narrogin Chase, Cooper will be up for a battle in the multiclub section of this event

#822 – Dylan James has been hard at work on his Navara since Round 1 at Perenjori. With plenty of modifications and tweaks, the Compound Motorsports Team will be looking for a strong showing at Bencubbin

#823 – Any time Brad Krepp enters an event the rest of the Extreme 4wd field take notice. The bright orange patrol is lightning quick and very reliable and will be hoping that this combination can take him to another class win

#848 – Mitchell Davies has been relishing the opportunity to unleash the #848 Navara so far this season. A strong run at Carnarvon saw him almost pull off a class win and will be hoping to go one better at Bencubbin

#866 – Mark Murray will be one of just 2 diesel powered vehicles racing at Bencubbin. Fresh off a class win at the Gas Dash, Murray is one of the class favorites and will be hoping that he can put his HP Diesel Patrol on the podium

#883 – Russ Cullen will be hoping for a much stronger outing at Bencubbin than he experienced at the Gas Dash. You can’t keep a good man down and big Russ will be expecting to bounce back from an uncharacteristic DNF

#886 – Trevor Pike in his Nissan Pathfinder will be looking for a strong run at the Marsue Transport Bencubbin 400. Whilst its been a difficult year so far for the Dardy Racing Team, the brightly coloured Pathfinder has been grinding away and it wont be long before they pull off a strong result

Performance 2wd teams ready for battle

Posted on Updated on

In what is some sort of a resurgence of this class, a field of 3 Performance 2wds are saddled up and ready to take on Round 3 of the 2017 CAMS, Carnarvon Motel WAORC. There will be plenty of interest in this class, with 3 very unique vehicles ready to rumble!

#513 – Jordan Russell is the defending class champion and he has a new weapon at his disposal for 2017. The Toyota Hilux is very much modeled on a trophy truck and should be very quick straight out of the box!

#528 – Mik French will be bringing an old favorite back to compete at the Marsue Transport Bencubbin 400. His Toyota Celica has been around for a while and many will recognize it from its days cutting laps out at Hyden. This track will suit the Celica and the Red Back Racing machine will be the dark horse in this class

#583 – Mathew Beck returns for his second run in the WA Off Road Junior Development Holden HZ. After experience everything that the Gas Dash could throw at the youngster, he will be hoping for a strong showing at Bencubbin in the crowd favorite Kingswood!

Extreme 2wds ready to up the ante!

Posted on Updated on

A Field of 4 Extreme 2wds are set to tackle the Marsue Transport, Bencubbin 400. With 2 competitors attempting the full race distance of the 2017 CAMS, Carnarvon Motel WAORC and the other 2 nominated for the WAORRA club championship series its set to be a tough battle

#406 – Colin Doney has taken the brilliant blue beetle to new levels in 2017. After attacking the first 2 rounds of the 2017 WAORC with a renewed vigor, the battle with Greg Pickersgill is sure to be a good one

#425 – For Greg Pickersgill aiming for a hat trick of WAORC class championships was never going to be an easy task and the start of 2017 has not been easy for the Hand Grenade Racing Team. But heading into Round 3 expect the champ to flick the switch and go on the hunt as we near the midway point of this year series

#444 – Chris Giles is coming off the back of a DNF at the recent Narrogin Chase, but with repairs made to the #444 machine, expect the beautifully presented Trophy Truck to back amongst it on race day!

#469 – Karl Richardson is only a relative newcomer to the sport. After making his debut at Narrogin, Richardson has spent a massive amount of time testing and tuning his turbo weapon in a bid to drive his yellow bullet to the front of the field

Updated WAORC points after Gas Dash

The points after the first 2 rounds of the 2017 CAMS, Carnarvon Motel WAORC are locked in and its a 2 horse race at the moment for the outright positions!

Jared Percival and Mal Yeardley are locked in an arm wrestle and will be hoping to cement their positions at the front of the field at the upcoming Marsue Transport Bencubbin 400. This event hosted by WAORRA has been a happy hunting ground for the Prolite competitors and they will again be hoping that they can charge their way to the front of the field. Extreme 2wd ace Colin Doney sits in 3rd outright in the current points chase and will be hoping to close the deficit as we head towards the mid season break

#583 – Best Presented Tin Top at Gas Dash

Posted on Updated on

The debut event of the WA Off Road Junior Development Program was nothing short of eventful. A stressful lead up to the event getting the car ready as well as teething problems gave youngster Matt Beck a taste of what off road racing is really about. Whilst the vehicle only managed to complete 3 of the 5 scheduled laps, they were awarded the best presented tin top award. The ‘Kinga’ has made its mark on the Gas Dash and written a small piece of history which will no doubt go down in Gas Dash folklore!
